THIS IS A VIBE.

Handmade With Soul. Designed By NAT2LEGIT in New York City.

Social media has proven to distract our minds…I designed this project with an intention to bring people together again and exercise our brains (again). We can never go back to not having social media, we can only enhance the ways in which we experience one another. I like to play chess & this art project is an overextension of myself to you. “I ENJOY PLAYING CHESS...AND I JUST WANT MORE PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME VIBES... W/ OUT COMPROMISE AND/OR WAITING FOR A PARTICULAR SETTING.”
— Nathalie Herring, CEO

Making The Boards: A Solo Journey

  • Every chess board undergoes a 14-Step Process over the course of two days…

  • Currently, I work from my home studio in East New York, Brooklyn

  • Over the course of 2018, I made a meditative effort w/ the idea & acquired “old school” carpentry techniques from

skilled hardware store employees, generous with extending their wisdom to me. #gratefulness

  • I bought a mini machine at a thrift & (finally) taught myself how to sew…Hence the custom carry cases...

  • Utilizing the open garden spaces available to me inside the neighborhood, affords me an outdoor setting

    for my various woodwork/sanding duties…

  • My idea evolved and so have I …

Last year, testing out prototypes with my friends...
